Telescopes

We have two brand new telescopes freely available for loan to Hertfordshire schools! Technical details: 70 mm refractor with a focal length of 700 mm, 2 eyepieces x35 and x60. Comes with easy assembly instructions (you’ll be up and running in <15 mins) and a DVD with suggestions of what and how to observe in the night sky. In the winter, observing could easily be done in an after-school club.

In the winter it is dark enough for these to be used in an after-school club, and all year round they can be used in the daytime - looking at the moon by day can be fantastic.

Some more information about the telescopes themselves can be found here:

And some great software to use with them – Stellarium – a free bit of planetarium software, shows you which stars you are looking at - www.stellarium.org
