Me and my Senses
This workshop has been running very successfully for over the last five years in Hertfordshire schools. KS1 children enjoy participating in a hospital role-play exercise during which they carry out a series of activities investigating their bodies and their senses.
Teachers have commented that it is the perfect consolidation or preparation for the ‘Ourselves’ science topics and a wonderful opportunity for all children to take part in investigative science.
Parents have enjoyed actively participating in their children’s learning and also finding out more about the curriculum at KS1.
Children move between activities, filling in their 'Hospital Record' cards and enthusiastically take part in activities that test their senses and investigate their bodies' capabilities. The data from the record cards can be used in the classroom to extend children's understanding of their bodies and their senses.
